Swift Enduro 4G

The Swift Enduro 4G camera from Swift is one of the latest in hi tech cameras. This camera is ideal for use in remote locations making it very popular with farmers, councils, nature enthusiasts and more recently it has become popular as a security/surveillance device.

Swift Enduro 4G Sending Photos + Video

Unlike the precious Swift 3G models which send only photos, the new Swift Enduro 4G can now transmit video as well. And it does this very quickly. While still boasting an ultra-quick 0.35 sec reaction time (like the 3G models), it is much faster in its transmission time – an image set via MMS takes just 17 seconds compared to 27 seconds for the 3G cameras.

You can also select the photo or video mode – either choosing to send both or just photo or video.  We found in the “Photo plus Video” mode that the camera will send the image while it is still recording the video. A 10 second video can be sent through to your email in about 1 minute.

Videos can’t be sent via MMS as they need to be sent using data. Instead they can be sent via SMTP through to an email address. Keep in mind, video does use more data so make sure you have a big enough SIM card data plan if you are capturing a lot of action.

Swift Enduro 4G Coverage

The first thing you notice about the Swift Enduro 4G is it’s large, double aerials, they are designed to pick up coverage where other aerials cant especially in rural areas.

Also, even though they have two aerial ports you can still use an external aerial with them and they will pick up both the 3G and 4G network.

Being 4G and having a more available bandwidth, the new Swift Enduro 4G model is capable of using more carriers than just Telstra, Aldi or BetterLife which run on Telstra Network. Vodafone had full functionality sending both images and video but Optus was only able to send videos, not images.

The cameras are very easy to set up.  The carrier settings are already built into the cameras so there is no need to put them in like on some older cellular camera models.  You just need to select your carrier via Sim Auto Match.  You can also send an image and video to 4 emails and 4 phone numbers simultaneously.  Just enter the numbers and email addresses into the corresponding sections.

Swift Enduro 4G Black Flash and Night Vision Abilities

The Swift Enduro 4G camera is a black flash infra-red, so the crims aren’t going to see any red glow to give away the camera’s location. The infra-red ability at night is good for identification out to about 12m.  Beyond that it starts to become more difficult, but you can still make out shapes at about 20m.

Power Options

The Swift Enduro 4G cameras run on 12 AA batteries as standard. They will take more images than the 3G cameras because they can transmit much faster (as long as they are using the 4G network and not the 3G network – they are the same if using 3G). This ranges from 600 to 1000 images out of a set of batteries.

The main reason for this is strength of coverage (poor coverage uses more power). The length of time the batteries are in the camera does not really change this figure, up until about 6 months. The cameras standby time is very low if you are using it in the standard “By Trigger” mode. Video will of course chew through the batteries a lot faster than image mode.

The Swift Solar Panel is still an option for this model and one that is great. The panel completes the set up and takes the need out of ever having to visit your camera. This means a solar 4G security camera can be mounted anywhere, as you don’t need to access it regularly.

The solar panel is capable of transmitting about 100 images per day. For heavy use, you can also use a Heavy Duty Solar Panel which can transmit about 10 times as much as the Swift solar panel. The camera can also run on a 12V battery.
